Discover a range of talented photographers around wales who have experimented with self-publishing photozines and books. The ‘box of zines’ created by Offline Journal and the photography department at the University of South Wales (USW) will be available to explore and perhaps encourage your own mojo to experiment with photozines and self-publishing.

ROBERT GREETHAM: ‘RITES & TRACES’
Artist and photographer ROBERT GREETHAM, in conversation with Offline Journal publisher Brian Carroll, will share why he decided to bring decades of photography made in Spain and Italy in book-form through his ‘RITES & TRACES’ title, designed and self-published in 2021. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A. A member of The Euro-Wales 92 Group who had their ‘Then & Now’ exhibition in the Turner House gallery during the Summer of 2024, Greetham has a long association with Welsh and Italian fine art photography. He gained his MA Degree whilst studying at Aberystwyth School of Art, where he was also part-time Tutor in Fine Art from 1986 – 1996 and was Director of Ffotogallery and editor of its Ffotoview publication in the early 1980s.

DAVID HURN: ‘ON READING’
Photographer DAVID HURN will discuss the impetus behind his latest (and fresh from the printers) photobook ‘ON READING’ with Josie Atkinson, publisher at Bristol-based RRB Photobooks, followed by a Q&A. A member of the international Magnum Photos agency since 1967, Hurn founded the renowned Newport Documentary Photography course and has had numerous books published of his work – with ‘ON READING’ being the thirteenth, and another two scheduled to be published in 2025.

Following the talks, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of any books and zines available on the day from the speakers and also other photographers who have brought their own self-published zines along.
