A commemorative showcase of new art created by Welsh military veterans and their families.
‘Veterens, Family, Wales’ offers a panoramic view on the profound artistic expressions of veterans and their families. Whether one has donned the uniform or stood steadfastly by a loved one in service, this exhibition champions these often untold stories and experiences through a variety of medium.
Curated by Woody’s Lodge charity, in partnership with The Turner House and the VC Gallery, this exhibition pays homage to the creativity and courage of military veterans across Wales. with each organisation passionately believing that art and culture can improve health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
This unique exhibition will span the entire remembrance period with associated events programme.
Woody’s Lodge is a communications and social hub for veterans, emergency services, reservists to re-engage with life, their families and their communities.
VC Gallery helps service veterans and those in the wider community by getting them engaged in a variety of art projects.

Lecture: Artists at Arms, A History of Art & Conflict

Join art historian Morgan Haigh for the first of two lectures exploring the joint history of European art and conflict. From ancient Roman mosaics and the romance of Medieval chivalry, to the pictorial propaganda of the Napoleonic Wars and the cultural battles of the Cold War – covering highlights from the broad sweep of 2000 years of European war art.

Lecture: Culture in Catastrophe, Artists & The First World War

Join art historian Morgan Haigh for the second of two lectures exploring the joint history of European art and conflict. This lecture will take a close look at artists from Britain, Germany, Italy, and France who took The Great War as their subject.
