3rd November – 9th Novemver 2025
Andy fung and Paul Battenbough met up in the kitchens of Chapter Art’s Centre back in 2007. Two workers with musical, artistically motivated and articulated lives. From this catalytic meeting grew the collaboration of No thee no ess, a duo making 10 albums so far; with a roving band of musician friends caught up in the experiment to make spontaneous, consciousness led, improvisational music.
Both were already established in art; Andy as a painter of wild improvised drawings from a graffiti background and Paul, a printmaker and multi media exponent. Their art always showed up in the band’s cover art, as they took turns to illustrate the front and backs of cd releases. The first 3 albums came in handmade sleeves, printed by them in a traditional printing studio.
Now with this exhibition the art of both musicains is shown in greater expansive detail that reflects back on the music and creativity of the composer creators.
The work will accompany a band live performance to show the link between the music and the visual art that informs both and each other.
