The tides of the Severn Estuary have a constant impact on our local landscape, and this theme can be interpreted literally as the inward and outward movement of ocean tides, or metaphorically as the ever-changing nature of life and the recurrent pattern of coming and going, decline and regrowth, the rhythmic movements, transitions and cycles that define our existence.

The exhibition will show a diverse range of artistic expressions, will seek to inspire reflection, evoke emotion and celebrate the profound beauty found within this natural phenomenon. The constant fluctuation between two states will be explored in many ways.

The work will show a range of printmaking techniques including etching, linoprint, woodblock and more contemporary techniques, such as cyanotype photography and photopolymer etching.

About Cardiff Print Workshop

Cardiff Print Workshop is an open access printmaking workshop run by artists for artists.

Our aims are to promote the original print as an art form and through the sharing of workshop facilities allow artists/printmakers to develop their own technical skills and artistic practices.

We run regular courses in printmaking open to the public and CPW members as well as community projects for interested groups and organisations. Some of the work produced through the community education side of the workshop will be included in the exhibition.

CPW is a valuable resource for artists and graduates who otherwise may lack the space and equipment to continue printmaking.
