15th June – 16th July
Founded in 2001, MaP is a creative, supportive and innovative group of Artists and Designers with a focus on textiles.
This exhibition is a celebration of 21 years since the Maker and Practitioners (MaP) group was established. It was initially set up as a creative outlet for a small group of tutors and past students from the Contemporary Textile Practice degree course at UWIC. The group has evolved over the years and today all members are freelance practitioners in a diverse and exciting range of textile media.
The work on show features selected pieces from past exhibitions over the last 21 years and new work celebrating MaP’s coming of age.
MaP members:
Claire Cawte
Jane McCann
Alison Moger
Sirpa Morsky
Mandy Nash
Lynda Shell

During this workshop you will be introduced to or rekindled with embroidery stitches; running, chain, herringbone, cross, picot and seed, as shown in the image. And of course, any others on request. We will take a walk and talk of the variety of work in the MaP Exhibition and talk about their chosen theme, “Coming of Age’. With ideas shared this will be a springboard to your design, where you can use one or several of the combined stitches to create your image, pattern or message. Experience a gentle day of sewing for your well-being, pleasure and enhancing your knowledge of embroidery.
