Tuesdays starting  19th May 2026, 7:00PM  – 10 weeks | £200

Creating graphic novels, illustrating, and storyboarding demands focused time away from distractions, and it helps to gain input and encouragement from others. This course of 10 two-hour sessions offers the opportunity to develop your visual narrative voice, skills and understanding in company, with expert guidance.

The first five sessions will explore fundamentals of visual composition for narrative, using short exercises. Sessions 6-10 will be more like informal surgeries, focusing on your own project or line of enquiry. We will reflect on the interplay of words and images, and other themes will arise from the sessions. Whether you are embarking on a new personal project or want do develop and refine skills, this course can help.

Tutor Chris Glynn set up the BA Hons Illustration course at Cardiff School of Art and Design (Cardiff Met) where he taught 2007-2020. He has worked internationally as a storyboard artist and character designer, illustrated children’s books and taught animators. He collaborates with writers and performers, and applies his training in music and theatre to visual narrative.
